Fond farewell  for some of our beloved painter, artist, musicians for good. They made a niche in our heart for their precious contributions.

Maqbool Fida Husain

Maqbool Fida Husain born on September 17, 1915 at Pandharpur, Mumbai. He was  a world famous prolific painter, artist, photographer and filmmaker. He was the most sought painter in India and highest paid too.

He captured the theme of Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Ramayana, Mahabharata and life of rural as well as urban agglomerations. He painted about 60,000 paintings on diverse aspects.

He was regarded as Picasso of India.

M.F. Hussain awarded Padma Shri in 1955, Padma Bhushan in 1973 and Padma Vibhushan in 1991.

‘Through the Eyes of a Painter’ is his first movie. His other movies are Gaja Gamini, Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities, Mohabbat. In all these movies, either he produced/directed /appeared in a special appearance.

At the last stages in his life, the painter accepted the Qatar citizenship.

He died on 9th June, 2011 in London.

Bhupen Hazarika

Bhupen Hazarika born on 8th September, 1926 at Sadiya in Assam. He was the renowned musician, singer, poet filmmaker and lyricist.  The musician was globally known for his universal brotherhood.

Awards like National Film Awards, Padma Shri (1977), Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Bhushan(2001),  etc. were conferred.

His movies as a singer, director composer are: Siraj, Mahut Bandhu Re, Gaja  Gamini, kyon?, Chingaari, Gandhi to Hitler, For Whom the Sun Shines, Aarop, Ek Pal, Rudaali, Saaz, etc.

He died at the age of 85 in Mumbai on 5th November, 2011.

Mario Miranda

Mario Miranda, 85, a cartoonist legend died in Goa. He provided the glimpse of Goan ethos and Indian  and cultures both at the domestic as well as international levels.

Mario Miranda was conferred so many awards including Padma Shri in 1988 and the Padma Bhushan in 2002.

He shown his Artistic Works more or less in all the continents.

Indira Raisom Goswami

Indira Raisom Goswami born on November 14, 1942.  She was a Jnanpith award winner Assamese litterateur died  at the age of 70 in Guwahati.

His important novels are: Dontal Hatir une Khowda Howda(The Moth Eaten Howdah of a Tusker), Pages Stained with Blood  and The Man from Chinnamasta.

She refused Padma Shri in 2002
